Wczesna interwencja psychologiczna po traumatycznym wydarzeniu odgrywa kluczową rolę w zapobieganiu rozwojowi zaburzeń dysocjacyjnych. Badania wskazują, że szybkie rozpoczęcie leczenia po epizodach nadużyć lub traumy może zapobiec progresji zaburzeń dysocjacyjnych.12 Uważa się, że korzystne dla pacjenta jest zmierzenie się z traumą tak szybko po jej wystąpieniu, jak to tylko możliwe.34
