Rokowanie w grupach ryzyka

Rokowanie może być mniej korzystne u pacjentów z obniżoną odpornością. U osób z bardzo osłabionym układem immunologicznym, np. w wyniku chemioterapii przeciwnowotworowej, infekcja może:

  • Trwać dłużej niż standardowe 1-2 tygodnie13
  • Przebiegać z większym nasileniem objawów14
  • Prowadzić do powikłań, których nie obserwuje się u osób immunokompetentnych15

Wpływ leczenia na rokowanie

Odpowiednio wczesne wdrożenie leczenia może korzystnie wpłynąć na przebieg choroby i rokowanie. Preparaty przeciwwirusowe stosowane we wczesnej fazie infekcji (w okresie prodromalnym, gdy pacjent odczuwa mrowienie lub swędzenie w miejscu przyszłych zmian) mogą:
